It is also colorless, non-toxic gas and is tasteless when present in its natural state. When natural gas is extracted from the ground, it is odorless. The combustion of natural gas is a chemical reaction between oxygen and combustible substances to produce heat. Unless the mixture is in the combustible gas range of about 4% to 15% per volume of air, natural gas will not burn. Above and below these amounts it will not burn.
